PRESS RELEASE: Inspiring Comfort Welcomes 5 New Certified Trainers & 15 Certified Organizational Trainers

July 13, 2023 (Oconomowoc, WI) — As of July 2023, Inspiring Comfort has certified 5 new Certified Trainers and 15 new Certified Organizational Trainers as leaders of care, connection, and comfort. These trainers are now certified to speak and facilitate supportive care programming across and within sectors and organizations.

Certified Trainers (CTs) are community leaders, speakers, and facilitators trained to cultivate a culture of care and cultivate care, comfort, and connection in the field across communities, organizations, and networks, while Certified Organizational Trainers (COTs) are managers and leaders certified to embed care and connection within their organizations and support ongoing learning and development for leaders and existing team members.

HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division has certified Director of Leadership & Organizational Development Samantha Maxie as a Certified Organizational Trainer as a part of their efforts to roll out Inspiring Comfort and Showing Up programming across their hospitals, beginning with The Woman’s Hospital of Texas.

Concordia University has certified 14 Certified Organizational Trainers across two of their Mequon and Ann Arbor campuses, following programming for their peer leaders on campus last Fall and in preparation for their Faculty Summit, featuring Inspiring Comfort, this August. The new Certified Organizational Trainers are:

Mequon Campus: Rick Aamondt, Beth Buckley, Holly Griskell, Rebecca Hasbani, Kara Janowski, Brenda Jobe, Beckie Kruse, Natalie Ross, Vittoria Sipone, and Bobbie Vergo

Ann Arbor Campus: Kristin Halsell, Beth Heiss, Reggie Kahoe, and Susanna Steele.

Finally, Inspiring Comfort has certified its 10th cohort of Certified Trainers: community leaders, speakers, and facilitators trained to cultivate a culture of care and cultivate care, comfort, and connection in the field across communities, organizations, and networks. The new Certified Trainers are:

Kay Lewis (Great Falls, Virginia) - With over 40 years of healthcare experience, Kay plans to use her certification to expand her reach within the community and work with her Stephen Ministry team and Comfort Dog handlers. She says on this training, “As a registered nurse with over 40 years of healthcare experience in caring for patients, I wanted to expand my ability to touch others and provide comfort to those who are hurting or dealing with many of life crises. Today more than ever this is needed in our challenging lives and cultures. If I can help make a difference in just one life, then the Inspiring Comfort training was certainly worth it!”

Sydney Mosher (Acton, ME) - Sydney is the Co-Founder of Camp Kita, a summer bereavement camp for ages 8-17 who are survivors of suicide loss. She plans to use this work as a foundation for fostering care and connection at Camp Kita. She says on showing up: “I show up because comfort and connection are essential components to suicide prevention, and because showing up for someone always feels like the right thing to do.”

Christine Passo (Norfolk, VA) - Christine is a Certified Life & Connection Coach using Showing Up to enhance her coaching experience. She says, “Personally and from a distance, I've noticed the decline in the strength of our connections through muffled communication. Through passion, dedication, and heart, I guide others to understand our disconnect and coach simple methods of communication to connect on new levels that seamlessly lead to receiving and giving care with ease.”

Mark Sirois (Southgate, MI) - Mark is an Orthopedic Physical Therapist who is using his certification to launch Stillwater Running Community, which merges the benefits of exercise and self-care with teaching the skills of comfort and connectedness. “I Show Up because we live in a time when isolation and loneliness are growing and the skills of looking someone in the eyes and letting them know they matter is more important than ever. I Show Up with the intent to plant the seeds that are the skills of comfort and connectedness in an effort to help those in our community feel seen and cared for.”

Nick Thompson (Greater Chicago, IL) - Nick is the Executive Director of the UCAN Foundation, a network of mental health and legal experts providing support to reality tv stars, and plans to use Showing Up to provide support to reality tv stars such as himself. He says, “I've personally experienced an unmet need for comfort and believe everyone deserves to be supported when struggling. I show up for others to inspire them to do the same.”

Inspiring Comfort congratulates its 15 new Certified Organizational Trainers and 10th cohort of Certified Trainers, and is thrilled to continue working with them to cultivate cultures of supportive care in their organizations and communities.
